Why Invest In Stocks (Versus Forex or Options)
Unlike Forex, stocks are more widespread and provide a greater arena for you to trade. You deal most often on the market and not with market makers who are able to dictate price and earn a spread on your trades.
While the actual dollar amount of stock trades falls short of forex trades, there is much more stability in the stock markets. This is advantageous for the investor who is slightly more risk averse or sensitive to wild swings in markets.
Whereas options also uses a market maker for many trades, the fact that you can lose a ton (if not all) of your investment come the strike date, stocks will also have an underly, tangible asset associated with it. Even if you were unfortunate enough to invest prior to the market meltdown from 2007 through to, say, now, you still had an asset that could be liquidated... in options, you likely would have lost everything.
